We are excited to welcome Conferences i/o to our startup community.
Founded by CEO John Pytel and CTO Dave Mulder, Conferences i/o builds web applications that are used to improve audience participation, engagement, and learning outcomes at events by allowing attendees to interact with presenters in real-time from their mobile device. The Conferences i/o technology is used around the world at conferences, events, presentations, meetings, trainings, and professional education.
John and Dave won the first Chicago Lean Startup Challenge in 2011 as GoSoapBox, with a focus in the education space. GoSoapBox is available for teachers and instructors to use in the classroom to keep students engaged and gain real-time insight into student comprehension. As the founders recognized overwhelming demand for the product in the events and meetings space, they spun off from GoSoapBox and launched Conferences i/o in January, 2013. This bootstrapped company has grown every year since. In fact, the Conferences i/o products have been used by over 500,000 attendees in 100 different countries.
"We're excited about moving to Catapult because it's a great space and has an awesome community," said John. "Outgrowing our previous co-working space and needing to move to a dedicated office is also an indication that we're moving in the right direction as a company."
We, at Catapult, couldn't agree more. "We are thrilled to have Conferences i/o at Catapult," said April Lane, Catapult's Executive Director. She added, "This is a very promising company with a strong business model and a great team led by smart, savvy entrepreneurs. They will be a great addition to our collaborative community."
