Please support the Kickstarter campaign for Smart Mail, a tabletop organizer for the kitchen/office designed by 8th grade Chicago Public School students. Smart Mail was designed by 8th graders from the Nettelhorst School as part of the Science & Entrepreneurship Exchange (SEE) program. This innovative program has 8th graders developing an entrepreneurial venture over the course of a school year. With the help of mentors and design experts, the students brainstormed a solution to a problem, developed designs and created prototypes while simultaneously researching potential customers, pricing, and startup costs.
Catapult Chicago had the pleasure of hosting the pitch competition on May 1 (for the second year in a row). Fifty impressive students wowed our startups and local investors with their product pitches. Catapult's Executive Director April Lane was among the judges for the competition and helped picked Smart Mail - the winning design that will be manufactured in Chicago.
